
William N. Haacker
Will’s practice focuses primarily on civil litigation, with an emphasis on the preparation of appellate briefing, complex motion practice, and the presentation of oral argument in state and federal courts, but also maintains a select number of trial matters. He has successfully prosecuted and defended claims, on behalf of individuals and companies alike. Will has a wide breadth of experience in civil litigation and achieved favorable results in cases involving commercial disputes, Insurance Code violations, complex multi-district litigation, contract disputes, property-right disputes, construction litigation, injunctive relief, catastrophic injuries, and wrongful death. He has also successfully handled many complex procedural issues related to jurisdiction, venue, and arbitration.
Will enjoys new challenges, embraces the opportunity to take on tough cases with difficult legal issues, and eagerly dives into new areas of the law to help clients faced with unique legal problems find the best solutions. He has been recognized by both Super Lawyers, Rising Star, and Best Lawyers, Ones to Watch.
While attending law school at South Texas College of Law, Will competed in the school’s nationally renowned Advocacy Program as an oral advocate and brief writer. In competition, Will helped claim the program’s 129th national advocacy championship and, over the course of his law school tenure, was awarded numerous speaker and brief awards. Will now gives back to the Advocacy Program by coaching teams of law school students in moot court competitions and helping sharpen their advocacy skills.

Preferred Pools of Houston, Inc. v. Gossai, No. 14-23-00635-CV, 2024 WL 4457032 (Tex. App.—Houston [14th Dist.] Oct. 10, 2024, no pet. h.) (affirming trial court’s denial of general contractor’s motion to compel arbitration in construction defect case because general contractor had impliedly waived its right to arbitration)
Uriegas v. Kenmar Residential HCS Services, Inc., 675 S.W.3d 787 (Tex. 2023) (per curiam) (reversing the court of appeals’ judgment that dismissed a plaintiff’s medical malpractice claims, holding the reports of a nurse and physician, when read together, provided a fair summary of the applicable standard of care and breach and, thus, satisfied the Texas Medical Liability Act’s expert report requirements)
In re Certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s, London, No. 05-23-00226-CV, 2023 WL 3220925 (Tex. App.—Dallas May 3, 2023, no pet.). (denying mandamus relief to insurers’ from the trial court’s order that granted sanctions against insurers and compelled insurers to produce thousands of pages of documents that were previously produced redacted)
Adkins v. Amazon.com, Inc., et al., No. 3:22-cv-00083, United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. Obtained substantial settlement on behalf of son of deceased mother, who tragically passed away during a house fire, in a product liability action after filing a motion for summary judgment seeking a declaratory judgment that Amazon was a “seller” under West Virginia’s Innocent Seller Statute.
Moser, Tr. of Estate of Mason v. Dillon Investments, LLC, 649 S.W.3d 259 (Tex. App.—Dallas 2022, no pet.) (reversing trial court’s granting of summary judgment where plaintiff had not listed potential personal injury claim in bankruptcy estate schedule but timely filed negligence claim against hotel, then reopened bankruptcy case and brought the same suit against the hotel in the debtors name, holding that the trustee’s suit related back to the original filing date because the question of who may bring a lawsuit is one of capacity, not standing, and, thus is not jurisdictional)
Platinum Power Moves, Inc. v. McCoy, No. 2016-45530, 334th Judicial District Court of Harris County Texas. Obtained directed verdict on behalf of acclaimed R&B artist in defense of a breach of contract claims alleged against him by former recording company.
GL Logistics Co., LLC v. Flores, No. 04-21-00125-CV, 2021 WL 3862232 (Tex. App.—San Antonio Aug. 31, 2021, no pet.) (affirming the trial court’s order granting a temporary injunction that prohibited the sale, alteration, or destruction of physical evidence related to a trucking accident after the defendant’s truck had been shipped out of the country)
Virgo Inv. Group, LLC v. Poggi, No. 3:20-CV-00856-IM, 2021 WL 295833 (D. Or. Jan. 28, 2021) (granting declaratory judgment on behalf of an investment management company, declaring that the investment management company was not bound by an arbitration agreement under any of the opposing party’s theories of binding non-signatories to arbitration)
